Our Texas Family Campout is set for Presidents’ Day weekend, February 14-17. The new-and-improved campsite this year will be at Red Hills Lake near Milam, Texas. We will have exclusive use of the facility throughout the camp, including sole access to a private 19-acre lake, with recent history of large catches. It’s located in the Sabine National Forest near Toledo Bend Lake—about 2 1/2 hours from the North side of Houston. Brethren can expect to relax among tall pine trees while enjoying stunning views that focus around the picturesque lake. Please keep in mind that this time of year could offer some cool weather camping, but on average the high is 67 degrees with the low around 45. Those tent camping will be able to use electricity for portable heaters. RV camping sites with hook-ups are also available along with an on-site dump station. As with last year, there will be a number of optional activities planned for this exciting weekend. This year we’ve added a two-hour “campus improvement” project—raking leaves, picking up sticks, etc.—that will provide us with the exclusive use of the site. The entire weekend is sure to offer some robust fellowship, while enjoying some outdoor rejuvenation with the Texas brethren. As if that’s not enough, we will have the Texas Spokesman Club meeting on the opposite side of the lake at the normal 1:00 p.m. time. There will be parking and access to bathroom facilities close by. This will be our campfire club and dress will be casual. It will offer some exciting guest opportunities for the boys and men that will also be at the campout, should they wish to join us for this unique event.
